Frater Alek0s: who writes these guides, and how to check them

This page exists so you can decide how much weight to give anything else on this site. It lists what can be verified about the person behind the articles, the method those articles are built with, and four checks you can run yourself in about five minutes.

Who this is

Frater Alek0s is the pen name of the founder of Cha0smagick Labs. Frater echoes a practitioner title used in Western occult traditions. The zero in Alek0s is a programmer joke and nothing more. The name is part of a public persona, and it is not presented as a legal name, a certification, or evidence of a supernatural identity.

What can be evaluated is the work: the guides, the apps, the methods, the limitations, and the reasons behind each recommendation. If a page here cannot survive that kind of reading, it should not be on the site.

Two disciplines, kept apart on purpose

The background has two halves, and the guides are careful not to mix them.

Practice. A long-standing interest in tarot, chaos magick, Goetia, runes, dreamwork, and the range of experiences people commonly call astral projection. These are not the same claim, and the site says so. Tarot and runes work as reflective systems. Goetia is a historical and modern magical text. Dreamwork is a journaling practice. "Astral projection" is a label attached to many different subjective experiences, and it is used here only with that ambiguity intact.

Engineering. A professional background in software engineering changes how a claim gets described. A feature should have a visible state, a reproducible step, or a limitation that can be tested. A ritual can still be meaningful without being objectively measurable, and the site does not sell the second as if it were the first.

The combination. Practice plus engineering turns into a documentation habit: write down the intention, note the method, record the result, and state what would count as a failure or an ambiguous outcome.

How a guide gets made

  1. State the question precisely. If the question cannot be written in one sentence, it is not answered yet.
  2. Give a method someone else can follow. Steps, inputs, and the order they go in.
  3. Report what happened, including the misses. A guide that only contains successes cannot be used to learn anything.
  4. Name the failure condition. What result would prove the method wrong, or the outcome ambiguous.
  5. Revise when contradicted. A conclusion changes when a test, a reader report, or a better source says so, and the update date moves.

The honesty rule

One rule governs everything published here: do not sell a guaranteed outcome. In practice that means no promise of results, no invented testimonials, no manufactured urgency, and no certainty about subjective experience. Reviews list what failed, because a review that only lists what worked is an advertisement.

Four checks you can run in five minutes

  1. Open any app review. It should name specific things that did not work, and you should be able to disagree with the verdict.
  2. Look for the practice log. Dream journals, sigil experiments, goetia workings, dated sessions. Details that cannot be invented after the fact.
  3. Read the tone. If a page promises to unlock hidden power, it is not written here.
  4. Send an email. A real question gets a real answer. A studio that hides from questions is hiding something.

What he has built

Cha0smagick Labs develops twelve Android apps (sigil generation, rune and tarot divination, I Ching, dreamwork, paranormal investigation suites, lunar and astrological calculation), publishes nine PDF grimoires, and maintains a set of free web tools that need no account and no payment. The studio also runs the Magia del Caos Práctica community on Telegram and YouTube.

What this site does not do

How drafting tools are used in the writing process is set out in the editorial policy, including the parts that would be easy to hide.
