Protection Rune Workings

The classic protection combination is Algiz (protection, connection to the divine) + Thurisaz (defense, breaking hostile intent) + Othala (home, ancestry, the space you protect). Carved into a doorway lintel, a shield, or a piece of jewelry, this binding creates a persistent ward. Draw each rune in order, visualising a protective boundary expanding outward with each stroke.

For personal protection carried on the body, Algiz + Tiwaz works well. Tiwaz brings lawful combat and courage, while Algiz forms the protective shell. Charge the binding during a waxing moon for building energy, or in the hour of the sun for clarity and strength.

Prosperity Rune Workings

Prosperity bindings traditionally pair Fehu (wealth, movable assets) with Gebo (gift, exchange) and Jera (harvest, yearly cycle). This is a long-game combination: it works with your effort and returns results on a seasonal cycle rather than overnight. Carve it into a green candle, a wallet, or a business ledger, then charge it daily with focused intent.

For career and income specifically, Fehu + Sowilo (success, victory, the sun) is a powerful pairing. Sowilo breaks through obstacles while Fehu attracts the reward. Some practitioners add Ansuz for communication and negotiations, making it a strong combination for job interviews and salary discussions.

Charging with Gnosis

Gnosis is the altered state that makes the bindings work. The three most reliable methods for beginners are breathwork (40 breaths, exhale longer than inhale), physical exertion (run or exercise to near-exhaustion before carving), and rhythmic meditation (drumming or metronome for 15 minutes). During the peak state, hold the carved rune and state the intent once, firmly. Do not repeat it.
